In March 2024, we set the challenge to walk 30 Miles in support of Day One Trauma Support.
Day One’s vision is that everyone affected by major physical trauma is supported to navigate the challenges that they and their families face without feeling alone.
There are around 20,000 major trauma cases in England and Wales every year. The average age of patients is just under 40 years old. Sadly around 16,000 people in England and Wales die every year following injury.
The introduction of Major Trauma Centres in 2014 vastly improved the care and clinical outcomes of this group of patients. Chances of survival increased by 19 per cent and reduced time spent in hospital.
Day One provides access to a range of practical and emotional support services. These can help people who have suffered a major traumatic injury to navigate the challenges that they are likely to face. We are also here for family members and carers.
Our fundraising target was £300, and we are pleased to say that we have raised a total of £310.
The team completed 242 miles in total. They enjoyed spending more time outside and getting active, and raising money for such a worthy cause.
We even had the Northern Case Managements dogs to help us reach our target of 30 miles. They certainly loved all the extra walks!
Well done team! We’re proud of everyone for achieving the goal and raising money for such a worthy cause.
